Pokemon Tournament This Weekend

Pokemon-X-Y-LogoA new Pokemon competition for Pokemon X and Y began today and will run until Sunday, April 28th.

Unlike some Pokemon tournaments, this will be an international event. Trainers competing in the event must use Pokemon that were either captured or hatched within the Kalos region, which means that many “move tutor” attacks will be unavailable from Black 2 and White 2.

Trainers can only use one Pokemon of each species and each Pokemon must have a different held item. Despite those restrictions, the tournament allows so called “Legendary Pokémon,” so expect to see such entries as the new Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde. Mewtwo and his new “Mega Evolutions” will be legal as well, as will all the other Mega Evolutions available.

During the battle proper, only three of the six Pokemon on the trainer’s team will be able to enter into each round, adding another level of strategy as trainers try to predict, counter, and outwit each others’ picks and plays.

Hello! I am an Editor around these parts! I am a graduate of St. Francis and a substitute teacher, but I love to spend time playing games, especially RPG's and tabletop games! Sometimes I even create my own, such as my upcoming "Level Burst" project. My favorite video game franchises are Super Smash Bros, Monster Hunter, and Pokemon. My favorite tabletop games are Pathfinder (or D&D 3.5) and Magic the Gathering.

Have your say!
