DayZ Source Code May Have Been Stolen

Developer Bohemia’s source code files have been allegedly seen in known hacker forum Unknown Cheats. User DevDomo had posted pictures of the source files and an explanation of his process how he hacked Bohemia’s servers.

dayz_screenshot_e3_2013_03-100041646-origAt the moment, Bohemia is looking into the extent of what may have been taken, but the first priority was confirming that it didn’t involve user info to protect players’ securities. Now that that has been secured, Bohemia is looking at preventing future infiltrations.

Since the method was released online, Bohemia is finding ways to prevent further incidences and get back to continuing development with its users’ security intact. Development time frames for the game itself have not yet changed, though if more problems occur, it could be a possibility.

An executable by DevDomo as well as another user drwhat has been released to encourage more people to snatch the code less than an hour ago.

Obviously, the hope is that no more users exploit this system, but Bohemia is actively working on a fix.

I have a huge passion for games and the excitement of finding what heroes you like to play. I believe in everyone there's a little gamer that wants that adventure and interactivity, so I do what I can to connect people to that inner-hero.

Have your say!
