Pokemon Battle Legend Tournament

The next special tournament has been revealed for July. The Pokemon Battle Legend event will have open registration from July 17th -24th and run the 25-27th. Participants will receive 1,000 Pokemiles for being part of the event.

Unlike most special tournaments, the Legend event will allow players to choose from their entire collection of Pokemon, including the powerful Legendary and Mythic Pokemon such as Groudon or Mew. Trainers must choose wisely which legends they add to their team because they will only be allowed two Pokemon with those designations in the competition. Because there is no Kalos native restriction, players can feel free to use imported Pokemon from other generations as well.

Not all legendary Pokemon are being restricted for this event. Many weaker legends that see play in standard matches, such as the Legendary Bird trio and the Legendary Beast trio, are exempt from the limitations. The specific list of restricted Pokemon is as follows: Mewtwo, Mew, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Celebi, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Deoxys, Jirachi, Dialga, Giratina, Palkia, Arceus, Darkrai, Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin, Reshiram, Zekrom, Genesect, Keldeo, Kyurem, Meloetta, Yveltal, Xerneas, and Zygarde. As Diancie has not yet been officially distributed, it and the other hidden legendary Pokemon from X/Y are banned.

As Mewtwo is legal, that means that his Mega Evolutions are as well, so expect trainers to be fielding this monster to get a taste of what he can do competitively, as well as other hard hitting alternate forms like Kyurem Black and White. For those who import legends from other games, this is also a chance for players to use Kyogre and Groudon in tournament play before Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire hit stores.

The battles will also take place at level 100 as opposed to the standard 50 and will be double battles so Trainers should take that into account as well when determining the teams. Expect to see some explosive matches as all the world’s most powerful Pokemon are unleashed! I’m looking forward to the fireworks myself.

Good luck with the games, Trainers, and as always check back at APG for more news on upcoming games, reviews, and news!
