It has been a long time since Halo 2. Halo 2 had such a great multiplayer experience and some of the best times I’ve had online were with Halo 2 on Xbox live. With the looming release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, I am being reminded almost daily how soon I will relive these joys of my past. As we all know, or should know, there are six Halo 2 maps that are getting an Xbox One makeover for the new collection. Max Hoberman, the original lead multiplayer designer for Halo 2, has a big hand in the remaking of these maps. He is the president of Certain Affinity, the studio that is taking care of the multiplayer side of The Master Chief Collection.
The remade maps and their name changes are as follow: Zanzibar is now Stonetown, Coagulation (or for us oldfarts who played the original, Blood Gultch) has been remade into Bloodline, Warlock is now called Warlord. Ascension is now Zenith, Sanctuary is now Shrine, and Lockout is now Lockdown. Zanzibar or Stonetown having the most recent video reveal.
Having watched some of the video walkthroughs that Hoberman did, I can say that one thing for sure is that I’m excited, and most any other Halo fan should be. There are weapon tweaks, the level designs have new things plugged into to help gameplay, and of course you can dual wield to heart’s content.
