So, the first episode Iron from Ice will begin the story of the House Forrester. TellTale was also quite forthcoming in regards to a few details about the six-episode series. “Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, [House Forrester] are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom,” TellTale elaborated.
“Our game series is based on the world, characters, and events seen in HBO’s TV show, which in turn is based on George R. R. Martin’s books (A Song of Ice and Fire). The events in our game series begin towards the end of Season Three of the TV show, and end right before the beginning of Season Five. You will visit familiar locations such as King’s Landing and The Wall, as well as unfamiliar locations such as Ironrath, the home of House Forrester.”
The Forresters have not appeared in the HBO series but they are definitely canon as the family has appeared in the book, A Dance With Dragons. The player will work through the story from five different perspectives, something new to TellTale and their episodic content. You’ll either assume the role of a direct family member or of one in service to the House of Forrester. “Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each character will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction,” TellTale explained.
The story being told across five different perspectives will hopefully work toward establishing a dramatic and sweeping effect, where the actions of one will affect the others. This is ambitious and definitely keeps with the spirit of the Game of Thrones series. “You’re truly playing the Game of Thrones…where you win, or you die,” according to TellTale.
TellTale Games listed the first episode to be released by the end of the year though the studio also has Tales from the Borderlands and the third season of The Walking Dead in the works as well. The Game of Thrones release will be pushed to nearly every platform imaginable: PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, iOS with others to follow.
