Since the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection earlier this week, players have been extremely vocal over the large number of bugs and connection issues they’ve found, the worst of which prevented multiplayer matches from even being found. A collaborative effort among players led to an extensive document listing all the known bugs ranked from most important to least. Today, 343 Industries has released a statement on the issues.
“Over the past 48 hours, we believe we have identified the primary matchmaking issues, and are working on a solution right now. In the meantime, we’ll be rolling out additional tweaks over the next days to further improve the experience while we ready this solution.” said Dan Ayoub, executive producer at 343 Industries. A content update will be delivered tomorrow that addresses non-matchmaking issues as well.
While this issue is being worked on, 343 has trimmed the hopper list, allowing them to direct the multiplayer population to the playlists that are working properly. In theory, this should allow the players to find matches more quickly with a tighter grouping of players than normal. They plan to reinstate the rest of the playlists as the bugs are resolved. 343 Industries released a list of the playlists that are currently being supported:
• Halo 2: Anniversary
• Team Championship Series
• Team Slayer
• Big Team Battle
• Halo 3
Mr. Ayoub reiterated their intent to do everything to sort this out as quickly as possible, remarking that the 4-minute wait time some users are experiencing is “a long time to wait for a match”. He continued with an apology: “I’d like to personally apologize to you all for the current situation. I can assure you we’re attacking this from all directions from 343 Industries to the Xbox platform, and we won’t rest until it’s what it should be. People are reporting improvements across the board, which is great, but we’re not backing down until we finish this fight.”
The statement was wrapped up with a list of updates coming in the next week to The Master Chief Collection:
• Daily server-side tweaks to continue improving matchmaking
• A Content Update that will address some campaign and scoring issues
• Content Updates and server-side tweaks over the next week focused on matchmaking
While it is strange these bugs existed upon release, it’s good to know that 343 Industries is on top of the problem and has quick plans to resolve it with a multiplayer update.
