Deciding to mess with the status-quo, Bethesda announced yesterday that Australia and New Zealand will be the first ones to receive the free-to-play team-based game Battlecry.
Australia and generally anywhere else in Oceania are usually the last ones to receive anything (still waiting on Shin Megami Tensei IV). However it seems this time that Bethesda Softworks has taken pity on them. Issued via their blog Twitter account roughly 20 hours ago, it was announced that Battlecry would be coming exclusively to Australia and New Zealand first in early 2015. This news understandably comes as a shock, considering Australia generally gets the short stick in regards to gaming, only receiving roughly 40-50% of what the United States receives.
For Australians this likely comes as no surprise. Bethesda previously said back in October that they would be the first country to have access to the Battlecry beta. The announcement came via Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) Australia.
Battlecry is the new online multiplayer team-based game currently in development by Battlecry studios. Bethesda is the game’s publisher. The game is set in a world where traditional warfare is obsolete. All disputes are now settled by elite task groups chosen to face off against one another in sanctioned warzones. It seems like an interesting concept if nothing else.
For those of you not in the US, I’m afraid you will have to make do with the official Battlecry website. Here you will also have to verify your age to gain access to the forums, game news, and information about the different factions. Alternatively, you could head on over to the Battlecry blog located here.
Interestingly, while almost every site is reporting it will be released sometime in 2015, the GameFaqs page says it’s slated for release in the US on the 31st of February. How accurate this date is remains to be seen. There is currently no indication of when Australia and New Zealand will get hold of Battlecry. Our Nation will keep you updated as more details become known to us.
