Have your saves been corrupted in Assassin’s Creed: Unity? Multiple reports are coming in across message-boards and forums that this is an issue. Interactions with Technical Support indicate that this may be caused by using the companion app on mobile devices. User Siporoth was kind enough to allow me to log into his Ubisoft account and see his technical support tickets involving the problem and the outlook for users effected by this glitch is not good. (Full Disclosure: Siporoth is a close, personal friend of mine) What’s worse? It doesn’t seem like Ubisoft currently has any way to restore in-game currency purchased with real money if it has been lost due to corruption.
Here’s Siporoth’s initial complaint:
Technical Support’s Initial response was dismissive:
Eventually, after some lengthy troubleshooting, this was their final reply:
Does any of this look familiar to you? If so, we’d love to hear about it.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity uses a one save-file per owner system, which is nearly impossible to circumvent thanks to synchronization to the cloud. It’s annoying enough to have no control over the number of saves one makes, but issues like this make the policy seem positively sinful. All this lost progress could have been avoided had users been allowed to have multiple saves as they normally do in most games like this. Siporoth claims to have lost over 50 hours of gameplay.
APGNation has reached out to Ubisoft looking for comments and any possible fixes regarding the issue, but have not yet received a reply.
