Today at PAX South, APGNation’s Luis Angeles interviewed Frontier Development’s Producer Eddie Symons about Elite Dangerous. We reviewed Elite Dangerous previously and the game was impressive, to say the least. Eddie was kind enough to shed some light on some of the lingering questions raised in the review. While unable to comment on the radical redesign of the Fer De Lance from its initial concept to its current concept art, Eddie was happy to discuss some of the features of the upcoming Elite Dangerous content expansion (Patch 1.1) currently slated for February.
“Community Goals… missions that everyone can take part in together… everyone working towards a common goal. It’s really going to highlight and [give more] visibility on how players can influence the state of a system. If a system is close to falling into famine and they are requesting huge food supplies instead of players doing their own indivudual missions they have… group missions… where they need to ship in thousands (tons) of food and prevent that system from falling into famine.”
Eddie Symons also reiterated Frontier Development’s intentions to look at the different roles in the game and to tweak and add new equipment for different roles in the game so that they are equally balanced.
He also hinted at the possibility that Elite Dangerous may be coming to consoles in the future.
