DOTA 2 Asia Championships Enter Final Playoffs

Yesterday marks the end of the group stage and the start of the LAN playoffs for the Dota 2 Asia Championships. With Rave claiming victory in two days of tiebreakers for 12th place, the final LAN bracket has been established. Unsurprisingly, Team Secret tore up the group stage with an undefeated 15-0 record leaving them as the obvious tournament favorites.

Several surprises were in store for the final tournament, including Big God scoring second place in group stages despite barely making the original cut in the Asia qualifiers. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the directly invited MVP Phoenix had a pathetic showing with only a single victory out of 15 games. The International 2014 champions Newbee also had an equally terrible showing with only 2 victories, begging the question if the world champions will be invited back to The International 2015. Also very interesting that two teams directly invited to the event performed the worst out of all competitors at the group stage.

So there you have it, the final bracket for the final LAN stage of the tournament with all 12 teams duking it out for a bigger piece of the $2.6 million prize pool. EHOME, Rave, HyperGlory Team, and LGD Gaming are your longshots for this one, with Team Secret’s performance during group stage making them the favorites to win it all.  The LAN playoff event begins Thursday and runs until the grand finals on Monday. If the group stages are any indication it’s anyone’s guess who will end up in the grand finals.
