Burnstar, a challenging fast-paced action puzzler was released March 18. It is a cooperative experience that seeks to capture the spirit of retro games, by yourself or with a friend.
Putting both your brains and fingers to the test, Burnstar is developed by Nerve Software. Nerve, based in Dallas, Texas are an independent video game developer committed to creating visually engaging titles. Founded in 2001, Nerve staff have worked on a number of AAA titles, including the Wolfenstein series, Doom and Call of Duty.In Burnstar, players use explosives to incinerate the buildings and foundries of a mega-corporation called Evil Incorporated. They are intent on ruining Burnstar and his colleague’s homeland, forcing them to blaze a trail and burn things down. Each level requires players to figure out the best way to use their limited number of explosives to deal maximum damage to Evil Inc’s property. While one incinerates everything around them, they must collect little stars, until they have enough to unlock the Big Star to finish the level. It sounds simple, but players will also have to contend with fire, spinning blades, crushing spikeplates, incinerators, lasers and a whole assortment of Evil Inc branded traps.
Crates explode to set anything in the vicinity on fire, while flammable goo helps the destruction continue. Only the best players will be able to burn everything , collecting all the stars while doing it quickly enough to earn a Gold Flag. The proof that you’re an armchair arsonist. Gold Flags are also the only way to unlock secret stages, so get burning. Place bombs to create chain explosions, discover secrets and collect rare items to unlock hidden achievements with the help of Evil Inc’s own evil machinery. The game has local co-operative game-play in every level and there are four characters to choose from. There’s three different worlds with unique style, as well as challenging puzzles and strategic boss encounters. There’s over 25 unique trap hazards and puzzles elements spanning across 60 levels of flaming fun.
