Payday 2 Update: Gun-porn and Bugfixes

Overkill published the 65th update this morning for Payday 2the first person online cooperative shooter which tasks players taking on the role of a gang of criminals usually doing tasks related to robbing banks. The latest update revamps the first person animations for almost every interaction, including reloading, firing, being tasered, being cuffed, and various other first person animation interactions.  A major aspect of the Payday 2 community and game is focused on the massive choice of weapons and weapon modifications heisters can choose from. The massive amount of customization for each firearm allows players to build their own gun-pornography collection, leading to a community focus on the appearance of the firearms, as well as the gameplay itself. Jonas Wallin, animator for Overkill even states that this animation update is due to community feedback.

We have listened to the feedback from the community, and worked hard to try and meet everyone’s wishes. We take great pride in the quality of the first person animations, and will continue to improve on the game for as long as Payday 2 lives.

Overkill also unexpectedly added transparent magazines for the JP36, Commando 553, Kobus 90, and the UAR, allowing heisters to see each individual bullet as it enters the chamber as well as a visual queue for how much ammunition was left in the magazine. Pretty interesting Overkill would go so far for something like firearm lust that doesn’t change gameplay at all.

The latest patch also has several minor bugfixes, such as animation clipping and interactions with converted law enforcers. This update is free to all gamers who own Payday 2 on steam.
