The team behind Dead Island 2 confirmed earlier today via Twitter that the sequel would be pushed back from its original spring 2015 release date to sometime in 2016. According to the Tweet, the team felt that the game hadn’t quite meet the goals they had set for themselves and that they will spend the near future on the game’s development. The post goes on to read that while the team thinks that fans will be disappointed by the wait, they also feel that they can make Dead Island 2 a better game with the extra development time. The new team for Dead Island 2, Yager (developer of Spec Ops: The Line), was brought in after Techland’s departure from the franchise.
Dead Island 2 is not the only game from publisher Deep Silver to slide into next year, as Homefront: The Revolution was also recently announced to have also been delayed until 2016.
