Years of speculation have come to an end as Bethesda has finally revealed the trailer for the next installment in the Fallout Universe; Fallout 4. The post-apocalyptic RPG will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One though no official release date has been confirmed as of yet. It is likely to be a 2016 release though it won’t be long before we know more as Bethesda’s E3 Showcase takes place on June 14th.
Fallout 4 is set in Commonwealth, a fictional version of Boston. Commonwealth is, much like previous Fallout titles, a desolate wasteland. One thing to note from the trailer is that it seems Fallout 4 boasts a much more populated world than seen prior. The trailer features several different skylines of vast areas with plenty of citizens to populate it.
There is a lot of emphasis on the companionship between the main protagonist and the male dog. While there have been companions in previous games, none of them are quite as cinematic as the dog in the trailer. Could this be leading to a much more story driven game than previous Fallout titles? The end of the trailer, in particular, hints at this as the main protagonist appears to be voiced this time around, muttering the line “Let’s go pal”. While there is no confirmation of it yet who the voice actor is it does sound an awful lot like Troy Baker doesn’t it? He did, after all, have minor voice acting parts in previous Fallout Titles.
While this is all speculation at this point, I imagine we will find out everything we need to know at E3 during Bethesda’s E3 Showcase on June 14th. We all wait with bated breath until then. You can already pre-order, for those who are inclined to do so, via the Fallout 4 website.
