The Next Metroid Game is Likely Coming to Nintendo NX

During an interview with Eurogamer, Kensuke Tanabe (Series Producer for Metroid Prime) explained that a new Metroid Prime game would likely be released on the Nintendo NX console.

“If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo’s NX console. It’s a long time but it would need to include a lot of content, which would take a lot of work on the development side”

This will come as unwelcome news for a lot of Wii U fans, especially after such a disappointing Nintendo conference at E3. With Nintendo NX not being unveiled until 2016, it is looking more like a new dedicated console rather than a side project. Especially when you consider that a Metroid Prime title may be releasing alongside it.
