Gaming on a Budget E3 2015 Edition

This week on Gaming on a Budget we take a look at PSN’s celebratory E3 Sale and we have some real goodies for you all.

Gaming on a Budget

The game that started it all and brought integrity back to Bruce Wayne’s name, just when we all thought the franchise was dead. Featuring the original voices of Mark Hamill as the Joker and Batman as Kevin Conroy, you can’t go wrong! Batman is bringing the Joker into Arkham Asylum which has undergone a security upgrade, but something’s wrong. Joker seems too pleased to be back home. The Asylum’s been taken over by madmen and only Batman can stop them. With all his gadgets and upgrades, Batman: Arkham Asylum is easily one of the best stealth games of all time. Grab it for just $8.00 on PSN. It’s available until June 24.

“Once this city used to pulse with energy. Dirty and dangerous, but alive and wonderful.” Mirror’s Edge is one of those truly unique titles that managed to capture a cult following after its release. Boasting a unique free-running parkour system oozing with style, it told the tale of Faith Connors. Faith is a runner; a courier hired to transfer sensitive data and packages via rooftop, avoiding the authorities of the city. Often these couriers don’t know what they’re transporting and it doesn’t matter to them as long as they get paid. Life is going well for Faith until her sister is framed for the murder of a popular politician. Faith vows to prove her innocence and is embroiled in a conspiracy spanning the whole city. The game is somewhat short, but honestly for just $6.45, Mirror’s Edge is worth a go. Sale ends June 24.

With Rise of the Tomb Raider around the corner, the reboot title is on sale as well. Following the story of Lara Croft, Tomb Raider explains how she went from being an archaeologist to fighting for her life every minute. Her crew has been either killed or captured, and Lara has to free the remaining members of the ship. She will embark on a journey hunting man and beast, becoming the Tomb Raider we now know and love. Tomb Raider not only introduced RPG elements into the mix but also redefined a beloved character and did a brilliant job at it. The Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is now available with upgraded graphics and resolution from PSN for just $15.00.

Battlefield 4 was somewhat of a letdown in the single player. The story wasn’t great, but the mechanics were good. It was very short, but playtime was not where the game shined. Bringing the classic Battlefield gameplay into the next generation, Battlefield 4 fixed the audio problems and the mechanics issues from its predecessor. The community was very friendly and welcoming, and the battle packs made it easier to upgrade weapons and gadgets. The Frostbite Engine 3 made the game look gorgeous and introduced some new, interesting game modes. Far better than Battlefield: Hardline, Battlefield 4 is available for $17.99 on the PSN right now. Go grab!

My thoughts: give Mirror’s Edge a try, won’t you? It’s a fun little romp through a world that is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. It’s also really cheap! We’ll be back next week with more great deals.
