Alex Morgan and Christine Sinclair To Serve As Face of FIFA 16

Today EA announced that Alex Morgan and Christine Sinclair, members of the championship-winning American Women’s National Soccer Team and Canadian National team respectively, will grace the cover of FIFA 16 in North America. This will mark the first time in FIFA series history that a woman had appeared on the game’s cover though each of the two will share the cover with male superstar Lionel Messi.

“It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA SPORTS FIFA,” said Morgan. “I know people all over the world play this game and I’m really excited that FIFA 16 is putting such an important spotlight on women’s soccer. And now to share the cover with today’s greatest player is surreal.”

FIFA 16 allows players for the first time to take control of women’s nation soccer teams and pit them against one another in such modes as Kick Off, offline tournament, and Online Friendlies, though the women’s teams can only be played against other women’s teams regardless of mode of play.

“This year’s World Cup showcased the unbelievable talent and skill in women’s soccer,” said Sinclair. “I’m thrilled that EA SPORTS is celebrating female athletes in FIFA 16. To be featured in the game and to promote women’s soccer with Alex is really special and another exciting step for women in sports.”

FIFA 16 lands in America on September 22nd on most major gaming consoles and PC.

My name is Nicole Seraphita and I’m 27. I’ve been gaming since the days of the NES and have owned at least one system from each generation since then. My favorite type of games if most definitely RPGs, with my favorites being titles like Chrono Cross, Persona 4, and Tales of Xillia, though I also sometimes dabble in platforming games, fighting games, and visual novels. When I’m not writing for APGNation or playing games, I enjoy table top and card games, watch anime, and write fiction that I occasionally publish online. I tend to write a lot of Sci-fi and the occasional bit of fantasy, with the often overlooked sub-genre of Biopunk being my favorite. I’ve also written a few visual novels, though only one of them has made it all the way to completion thus far. My current dream is to be able to bring the Monster Girl genre to a western audience.

Have your say!
