Dragon Quest 11 Announced for PlayStation 4, 3DS, NX

Earlier today Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time would released in time for the series’ 30th anniversary. The latest in a the long running Dragon Quest series, In Search of Departed Time will launch on the PS4, 3DS, and Nintendo NX with each version of the game featuring the same story and gameplay, but different visual styles. The PS4 game will feature a rich and detailed full 3D world played from a 3rd person perspective, while the 3DS version will feature super deformed art on its top screen while the bottom screen displays 2D graphics meant to recall the visuals of early entries in the Dragon Quest franchise.

Dragon Quest 11 will also see the return of many of the staff who made the series famous in years past, including composer Koichi Sugiyama character designer Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame.

There is no firm release date for any of the three versions of the game just yet, but Square Enix promised during the game’s reveal that it would be out within the span of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration. It was also announced that Dragon Quest 10, an MMO iteration of the series, would be coming to the PS4 and 3DS as well.
