Group A has been decided. We will look at who got in, who didn’t and how people did today.
Top Seed: Flash Wolves
Today: Three wins
The Flash Wolves stepped up today, in a very big way, and managed to not only qualify but to do so as the top seed. Their performances today, winning all three games, were optimised by a pentakill on their marksman NL. Aside from that the Flash Wolves just looked like a very strong team, knocking aside both Koo Tigers and CLG to advance. They now have a long time to watch the otehr groups and plan for their matches in London next week.
Second Seed: Koo Tigers
Today: Two wins, one loss
Even though they managed to qualify, Koo will be upset that they didn’t manage top seed in their group. The Korean team had the chance to be top, but tripped up in their last game against the Flash Wolves, and will now have to fight a better team in London. However, their absolute dismantling of CLG will give them confidence that they can beat tougher opposition on their way to the higher stages of the world finals.
Third (DNQ): CLG
Today: Three losses
CLG always find a way to test their fans. After such a great run in the NA summer split, and a handful of solid performances in the first round of games, CLG were dumped out of worlds. The loss to Koo was to be expected, but Flash Wolves and Pain also defeated what looked like a beaten and weak side. The bot lane of Doublelift and Aphromoo seemed somewhat off pace and contributed greatly to the losses. CLG always have next year, but that’s a long time for their long suffering supporters.
Third (DNQ): PaiN Gaming
Today: One win, two losses
It is no surprise we wave goodbye to the Brazilian PaiN Gaming, but they put on a good show while they were in. Not only did they manage victories, but they also managed these wins against team considered much better than they are, including CLG. While they did not qualify they can be happy with the way they performed and how they held themselves, managing to draw their position with that of the NA giants.
