Timed console exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider, has been given a PC release date for January 29th. The release date spotted via a listing for the game on the French Amazon website; the website clearly shows a PC case with the game’s box art.
The game released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10th, with Square Enix deciding to release the title against Fallout 4. Releasing the game so close to Fallout 4 had an adverse impact on the game’s sales, with the title selling far below it’s expected targets. The PC version will likely include a higher frame rate and a more consistent resolution, improving the already beautiful visuals. The PC iteration is also set to release around the same time as the Baba Yaga DLC, but there is no word on if this will be included with the PC version.
A PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider will release during 2016, with a Q3 release looking the most likely although this has not been confirmed yet. Timed console exclusivity is an annoying practice that is bad for consumers, but PS4 owners could potentially have a Game of the Year edition when it releases that would compile all the DLC that has been released for Xbox One, here’s hoping eh.
