Other games, such as H1Z1, have tried to become a top esports game but have quickly been overshadowed by new games such as Player Unknown Battlegrounds and Overwatch.
Rocket League is coming into the spotlight as a prominent esport. Rocket League’s latest event, the Universal Open, saw NBC and FACEIT join forces to provide viewers with amazing 2v2 battles. Currently, the Universal Open is taking Twitch by storm. The Northeast Regional that took place on August 6th, brought almost 300,000 new views to the channel. Since the regionals began, more than 400k views have been brought in, expanding the esports scene for Rocket League.
