Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta Comes Out This Week

The beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division will open for Xbox One on Thursday 28th at 9 am GMT / 4 am EST / 1 am PST, followed by PS4 and PC on Friday 29th at noon GMT / 7 am EST / 4 am PST. To play, you will need to have pre-ordered a copy of the game for your system of choice. There is, however, a way to beat the pre-order restriction. According to reporting by Eurogamer PS4 players can cancel their pre-order but retain access to the beta. I do not advocate for this shady sort of behaviour, but if it’s your thing, it’s technically possible. If you plan on checking it out, you should make sure to get some time off work, as it’s only available over the [...]

Black Ops 3 Beta Now Available on PlayStation 4

The Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta begins today exclusively on PS4, with other consoles to follow. Those who have pre-ordered the title will be able to download the beta. The download clocks in at around 12 gigabytes, so don’t expect to be playing instantly. It is once again Treyarch’s turn this year, and they have built upon Advanced Warfare by upgrading the manoeuvrability of the player. A whole new chain system has been introduced in which the player can chain together various aerial moves. There is also a selection of specialisations, these act like classes in which you have special abilities and weapons. Think Destiny’s class systems with Call Of Duty [...]

First Impression: Battlefield Hardline BETA

Battlefield Hardline is an odd duck. It almost feels like a Battlefield 4 mod conversion at first glance with concepts somewhat similar to the highly successful Payday 2. It’s an unusual but welcome distraction from the main series.

While Hardline tries new things, the core gameplay is still quite similar to the traditional Battlefield games. You have conquest mode where you join a side and a squad within that side. With your team’s help, you have to capture points. The longer you hold the point, the faster the other team’s respawn tickets will hemorrhage, and the more points you capture, the faster the other team will “bleed” tickets.

You [...]

Halo 5: Guardians — Changes To Come, Results of the Multiplayer Beta

Executive Producer of Halo 5: Guardians Josh Holmes published the results and findings of the recent multiplayer beta. Holmes reiterated that the recent beta was for game balance and tweaking rather than testing the stability of a multiplayer network, an issue that many The Master Chief Collection fans likely have concerns about.

In the past, betas for games on console have typically been used for online scale testing in the weeks prior to a game’s launch. In our case, we provided a true “working” beta that was a snapshot of our game in development. Halo 5: Guardians represents one of the most substantial evolutions of core combat in franchise history. We felt it [...]

Elite Dangerous Beta 3 Is Live New Ships, New Industry

Elite Dangerous released their beta 3 update today. Notable new features include Asteroid mining, fuel scooping from the surface of stars, ship interdiction (yarrr!) as well as a couple new ships and a host of new graphical improvements. The update also featured new audio content, and huge amount of bug and performance fixes.

Eve Online veterans will be familiar with mining mechanics, its more involved than Eve Online but the basics are there. Shoot Asteroid, gather ore, refine. The big differences being you manually shoot chunks of ore off an asteroid, manually collect the floating chunks of ore and then refine it right there on the ship into usable material. Having [...]

Platform Selection For Destiny Beta Now Open With Bonus Codes For Friends!

Bungie has announced that they’ve opened up the platform selection for Destiny beta when redeeming your preorder code. Just head to Bungie’s site, sign in, and go to “Redeemed codes” to make your choice. As a bonus, all redeemed codes will receive 3 additional codes for the platform you select, so that you can explore and prepare with your friends. The Battlefield Hardline Beta Was Actually Useful

The previous two games in the Battlefield series faced some controversy as they gave beta tests very close to the release date, which was useless. But now, Visceral and EA have finally decided change that by offering the Battlefield Hardline beta much before the release date, and it sounds like it wasn’t just for a namesake too. In a post in the Battlefield blog, Visceral explains how useful the beta test was and also introduces us to the “Community’s Most Wanted”, the changes and fixes needed by the community according to the feedback Visceral received. Visceral says that they have learned 10 key things, and have even implemented some changes in the game [...]

Register for the PS4 Destiny Alpha Now

Yesterday, it was announced that anyone who owns a PS4 can get exclusive access to the Alpha version of Destiny on their system this weekend. The Alpha will run from June 12-15 only on PS4 and doesn’t come to a surprise as Bungie, the developers behind the game, and Sony have both said from the beginning that the best experience of the game will come from the PS4.  “Destiny isn’t just first on PS4, it’s better,” said Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, shortly after taking the stage during their E3 2014 presentation. Will Xbox One get an early access beta?  Very unlikely.  However, the official Beta launches on July 17 for everyone. Are you ready [...]
