343 Industries Tease Firefight for Halo 5: Guardians

Firefight Returns

In a preview for their Free Spring/Summer 200116 Content, 343 Industries the developers of Halo 5: Guardians teased the return of fan favourite Firefight. Firefight, first introduced in Halo 3: ODST was a PvE wave based co-operative game type. 343i promise that Guardians’ incarnation, dubbed ‘Warzone Firefight’, “will bring PvE to Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer”, and that they will keep us up-to-date over the coming months. The new name may indicate some connection with the current Warzone game types, possibly by using the same maps or borrowing elements of the formula. Whatever the case it is exciting news for those hankering for some more PvE.

Exciting Future [...]

Let’s Talk Xbox: Halo 5: Guardians February Season, Titanfall 2 News and More

In case you haven’t been on your console in the last few of days, here is some Xbox news for your eyeballs.

Last week I covered Halo 5: Guardians‘ latest update Infinity’s Armor. The update brought new REQs, two new multiplayer maps (Riptide for Arena and Urban for Warzone Assault), and the return of the Halo 2 Battle Rifle. I only got queued once for Urban, so can’t comment on how good it is, but I’ve played a lot of Riptide which was a surprisingly good remix of Fathom and lots of fun on Swat. If these remixes are anything to go by, I am willing to withdraw some of my earlier pessimism about 343i’s approach to multiplayer [...]

Will The Power of The Xbox One Allow 343i To Attain The Mantle, and Keep Halo Alive?

Photo: Halo Waypoint

Halo is one of the key franchises that brought first-person shooters to the mainstream when Halo: Combat Evolved launched on the original Xbox, essentially driving sales. Since then it has branched into real-time strategy with Halo Wars and top-down shooters like Halo: Spartan Assault, on top of maintaining a solid series of core first-person shooter titles. Originally a Bungie property, the Halo games were loved the world around, and millions of gamers like myself have fond memories of blasting Covenant with a pal in co-op or ploughing hours into multiplayer squeezed onto a couch with four mates and swearing to not screenwatch. Halo is a staple [...]

Halo 5: Guardians Info Drop

Halo 5: Guardians is a big deal. That is of no surprise to anyone. We’ve had a multiplayer beta, ahead of the October 27th release date, that whet the appetite of many a shooter fan but what of the game itself? Thanks to Game Informer per their July issue a whole slew of images and information have come to light about 343 Industries’ latest entry into the Microsoft flagship franchise.

Right off the bat the cover alone reveals a big detail about the game. It looks like Master Chief won’t be flying solo this time but, instead, be accompanied by Blue Team. If you’re one of those Halo fanatics who even went so far as to dive into the expanded [...]

Halo 3: ODST for Master Chief Collection Released

Just a few days ago, a leaked screenshot showed the Halo 3: ODST addon for the Master Chief Collection was being released on Friday, May 29th. Microsoft responded to the leak, saying it was an incorrect listing, and that it would provide the details when the time to launch had come. That time came much faster than we were expecting.

I received an Xbox Live message early this morning containing my code to redeem ODST, just 2 hours shy of Microsoft’s original leaked release date.

ODST is nowhere to be found on the Xbox store, and there’s been no word from Microsoft about the matter, but we’ll be sure to update you when they comment on it.
