In case you haven’t been on your console in the last few of days, here is some Xbox news for your eyeballs.
Last week I covered Halo 5: Guardians‘ latest update Infinity’s Armor. The update brought new REQs, two new multiplayer maps (Riptide for Arena and Urban for Warzone Assault), and the return of the Halo 2 Battle Rifle. I only got queued once for Urban, so can’t comment on how good it is, but I’ve played a lot of Riptide which was a surprisingly good remix of Fathom and lots of fun on Swat. If these remixes are anything to go by, I am willing to withdraw some of my earlier pessimism about 343i’s approach to multiplayer [...]
This year has been a wonderful one for gaming. While I haven’t managed to play as many titles to completion as I would have liked, I was still chuffed with 2015’s offering. Having made the switch from my ailing PC to the Xbox One, I was able to pick up some of the current crop of triple-A titles. As such I have decided to run through some of the games I enjoyed this year, followed by my runners up and then finally my game of the year.
So many great games came out near the end of this year, leading to a substantial backlog, and that doesn’t even include the plethora of games that Xbox have welcomed back into my living room with its Backwards [...]
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3 presented one of the most mature and rich gaming experiences I have ever had the pleasure of playing through. Developer CD Projekt Red managed to elevate themselves above the standard “We have boobies in our game, so we are mature” trope, due the Witcher’s brilliant approach to adult themes. The writing is believable and relatable, regardless of the game’s mythical and medieval Eastern European setting.
While this brilliantly written world was a new thing to myself and many others, The Witcher series has always been known for its rich lore and expansive worlds. The difference this time around was the commitment to fun and [...]
I have played a lot of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt RED were not kidding around when they dangled 200+ hours of gameplay before my eyes. I am a feverish completionist when it comes to roleplaying games (RPGs), and I can say without pause that through my adventures in Witcher 3, I was not bored once. The only other RPG franchise that has held my attention continuously for this long was the ‘original’ Mass Effect trilogy.
With that thought, I simply had to write this piece. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been fabulous for gaming. It has perfected the concept The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim proved (that of a sprawling open world), it has [...]

The term “open-world” is one that PR guys love. It is a buzzword by this point, a promise of something that few rarely deliver. An enormous open-world that not only has innumerable things for the player to do but feels layered, intricate, lived in? That is a pipe dream for most. Some have managed to achieve it. We’ve seen John Marston in the Old West with Red Dead Redemption, explored the Wastelands in Fallout 3, entered a living and breathing Liberty City in Grand [...]
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has already reached 1 million pre-orders globally, giving it the potential to be the most popular title in the series to date. Releasing worldwide on May 19th, Wild Hunt once again sees the series protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, embroiled in a tale of violence, mythology, and fantasy. The third entry in the series from CD Project Red creates a truly open-world harnessing the powers of Xbox One, PS4, and PC to create the most immersive experience yet.
Those who purchase the game will be entitled to free weekly DLC starting May 20th. There will be 16 installments ranging from alternative armour sets to new side quests. This is a great way for CD Project [...]

According to a blog posting on CD Projeckt Red’s website, the hotly anticipated game The Witcher 3 will be delayed until May 19th, 2015. In the article, the game’s development crew cites the need to make sure the game is bug free up release as a reason for the twelve week delay and that it would simply not be possible to do so within the game’s current development timeline. A more detailed explanation for the push back can be found below:
“The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the [...]
