Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta Comes Out This Week

The beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division will open for Xbox One on Thursday 28th at 9 am GMT / 4 am EST / 1 am PST, followed by PS4 and PC on Friday 29th at noon GMT / 7 am EST / 4 am PST. To play, you will need to have pre-ordered a copy of the game for your system of choice. There is, however, a way to beat the pre-order restriction. According to reporting by Eurogamer PS4 players can cancel their pre-order but retain access to the beta. I do not advocate for this shady sort of behaviour, but if it’s your thing, it’s technically possible. If you plan on checking it out, you should make sure to get some time off work, as it’s only available over the [...]

Can We Give Bethesda and Ubisoft a Pat on The back Please?

This year has brought something new to the industry.  In the past twelve months, both Bethesda and Ubisoft had unveiled games and announced that their release will be within the same year. It is unusual to see this commitment to a release schedule, as well as the confidence in a product to reveal it so late into development. These days it is often common for developers to announce a new title two or so years in advance, very early into development. Watch Dogs is a perfect example. This title was revealed very early in development, and the end product ended up being pretty poor. There are countless examples of games being announced needlessly early to drive pre-orders and build hype. [...]

E3 2015: Ubisoft Shows New IP ‘For Honor’

A new intellectual property has been revealed during the Ubisoft press conference. The new game For Honor features visceral melee combat between three different combat factions; Vikings, Samurai and medieval knights.

Taking to the stage, creative director Jason VandenBerghe explained that players will be able to feel every clash of their sword swings, and every crunch they experience in battle. He described how visceral the experience was before giving the floor to a playable demo.

The playable demo featured two teams of four players going up against each other. The first team was made up of the knights, with the second made up of the samurai. Onscreen many enemies [...]

Ubisoft Quietly Delays The Division

The upcoming Ubisoft title, The Division has been quietly delayed to 2016. Rather than officially announcing a delay, within Ubisoft’s investor report The Division is now scheduled for release in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2016, which in real life time is shortly after new years. Gamers who were looking forward to the Tom Clancy title taking place in a somewhat post-apocalyptic setting now have to wait several more months for the chance to get their hands on the title.

Ubisoft has yet to announce a reason for the delay. Gamers can only hope that it’s an attempt to polish further and develop the title rather than for a purely economic reason. All shall be revealed [...]

Our Nation’s Review of The Crew

Developer: Ivory Tower, Ubisoft Reflections Publisher: Ubisoft Release Date: December 2, 2014 Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 Reviewed Platform: Xbox One (Review copy provided by publisher)

When Ubisoft gave gamers their first full look at The Crew during E3, the response was almost universally positive — if not cautiously optimistic. The visuals were gorgeous, the cars looked amazing, and the concept — an open-world racing game where you can drive coast to coast without stopping — was fresh and intriguing. Racing fans were excited about the possibilities of a new title with inventive mechanics, and regular gamers were interested in the unique premise and the [...]

Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Reportedly Assassinating User Saves

Have your saves been corrupted in Assassin’s Creed: Unity? Multiple reports are coming in across message-boards and forums that this is an issue. Interactions with Technical Support indicate that this may be caused by using the companion app on mobile devices. User Siporoth was kind enough to allow me to log into his Ubisoft account and see his technical support tickets involving the problem and the outlook for users effected by this glitch is not good. (Full Disclosure: Siporoth is a close, personal friend of mine) What’s worse? It doesn’t seem like Ubisoft currently has any way to restore in-game currency purchased with real [...]
