Three Let’s Play YouTubers You Should Watch

Let’s Play Showcase is a weekly series focusing on Let’s Play YouTubers that are currently popular or growing in popularity. I plan on highlighting some of my favorite ones as well as up and coming channels. The main purpose of this will be to discuss the Let’s Player themselves and also talk about any ongoing series of videos they currently have going. Let’s dive right in with my first recommendation.

Game Grumps

The Game Grumps have been one of my favorite YouTube channels for the last three years. Their blend of comedy and interesting gameplay makes for quite the entertaining show to watch. They play many different types of games ranging from RPG’s such as [...]

Microsoft Takes Notice and Alters Streaming Policies

On January 9th, Microsoft decided to alter their policies regarding YouTube and Twitch regarding “Let’s Play” videos, streamed content and Digital Millennium Copyright Act violations.

Microsoft finally took notice of the growing popularity of LP’s and online digital streamed content. The new policy reflects this and, apart from anything obscene or lewd, it’s actually pretty relaxed. While they’re not giving carte blanche to users in regards of stripping down game code, they’re being lenient. Microsoft issued the following on their Game content usage policy page.

We know that people like you – gamers, fans, individuals, and [...]

Titanfall Gameplay Videos Push Youtube to 60FPS

YouTube user GhostRobo posted some of the first 60 Frame Per Second videos on YouTube using gameplay footage from Titanfall and Battlefield Hardline. Take a look at both below.

The user also posted a trailer for the upcoming movie Video Game High School. The new 60FPS video feature is certainly a game changer, as in the past videos were limited to 24FPS which were not as good for motion-intensive videos. The higher frame rates will definitely be a boon for people who want to post their video games in action, particularly PC games as they usually run higher than 24FPS. “Your video game footage with crazy high frame rates will soon look as awesome [...]

Google Buying Twitch.TV – YouTwitch on the Horizon

Inevitably, YouTube has recently made an offer to buy Twitch TV (YouTwitch anyone?), a streaming site that features video game content. The cost of the buyout would be more than $1 billion. Eight years ago, Google bought YouTube for the handsome $1.65 billion in 2006, and Google seemingly controls most of the internet video content that doesn’t have to do with television programs (unless you count the ridiculous amount of pirated content on said video site). The wonderkind that is Twitch TV is massively successful and this proves it. The company was started in 2011, and already it’s looking at a billion-dollar buyout. So what? As a gamer, you may think that this means [...]

Titanfall Mythbusters Discover Game Breaking Bug

The folks over at DefendTheHouse are back at it again in another Titanfall Mythbusters episode on their YouTube channel. They have covered various games from every genre hoping to debunk myths associated with the games. One of the myths: Using satchel charges, you can destroy the evac ship after it has escaped to space. The team set out to discover if it could be done.  As the Epilogue nears conclusion and the drop ship takes off, DefendTheHouse detonated the attached satchel charges after it warps into space which ultimately would have destroyed the ship. However, the game freezes and disconnects the players for doing so.  Guess the detonation in space causes a black hole that just [...]
