Orphan Reaches Kickstarter Funding Goal

Windy Hill Studios‘s new side-scrolling Appalachian Apocalyptic Alien Adventure game, Orphan, reached its $32,000 funding goal in the final 48 hours of fundraising today. Orphan puts players in the shoes of a young boy trying to survive through the night as aliens invade his rural American hometown. The Nation’s very own Nicole Seraphita wrote up a synopsis of the concept — which you can check out here.19eeeb314f48c01f6f9f63d1215a767e_large

Windy Hill Studio posted an update to their Kickstarter page thanking backers for their support:

There is so much to say and I can’t think of any way to say it. I’ll save that for later. Even a week ago I didn’t expect to reach funding. During the last couple of days it began to look like we MIGHT hit the goal before the deadline at midnight tomorrow but it was still up in the air. Here we are one day earlier and the goal is toast. More people have backed Orphan today by noon than have before even on our best day. Many of you increased your pledge which is totally unnecessary but totally awesome and for that we say thanks!

Windy Hill Studios posted a new stretch goal of $36,000 to be released on the PS4. Playstation owners have 36 hours to donate if they want to reach this goal.  However, the normal version of Orphan is now funded and slotted to be released January, 2016 for PC, Mac, Linux and Steam.
