Earlier today Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops III, the latest spin-off in the Call Of Duty series, will be released for the Xbox One, PC, and PS4 on November 6th. The game will play host to an impressive range of features including four player online co-op multiplayer, a full single-player campaign, and the return of the ever popular Call of Duty: Zombies mode. Zombies mode, unlike other appearances in the Black Ops series, will feature its own player progression and XP. Treyarch is considering a game of its own alongside the rest of Black Ops III. Gamers who preorder Black Ops III will also receive entrance to the game’s multiplayer beta though the date of which has, as of yet, to be released.
“Nearly 100 million people have played Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, making it the most-played series in Call of Duty history. And those fans are about to get the best Black Ops game we’ve made yet with Call of Duty: Black Ops III,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision. “This is Treyarch’s first three-year development and, man, have they made the most of it; with a ton of innovation across all modes of play, and of course a mind-bending, wild ride of a story, Black Ops style. Our fans will get a taste for themselves with a Beta later this year. But for now, Black Ops is back.”
Black Ops III will also feature a futuristic story mode in which players take on the role of an elite soldier in a world where cybernetics and bio-enhancement run rampant. That character will, for the first time, be fully customizable complete with upgradeable abilities, appearance options including gender (including fully-voiced cutscenes, animations, the whole nine yards). Treyarch’s shaking up the Black Ops formula, mechanics-wise, in a few big ways that harken back to the changes present in Advanced Warfare. Among them? More traversal options. The sprint meter is gone and there are power slides, wall-jumping and more being tossed into the mix. We’ll pass along more info about the game as it is unveiled in the coming months.
