UPDATE 6/13/15: A new round of leaks has produced new information. For the readers who wish to remain in the dark until the video presentation tomorrow, this is the best time to stop reading.
Nintendo has announced that new content for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be discussed in a planned video presentation on June 14th.
The announcement that has been planned to air in a live stream at 7:40 a.m. PST will go into further discussion on updates that will be coming to the game later that day. Some of the updates mentioned include Lucas from Mother 3, announced in a Nintendo Direct video released on April 1st, a new Wii U Miiverse stage, and new Mii Fighter costumes inspired by Splatoon. The presentation will be hosted by Masashiro Sakurai, the director for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Despite no other mention of any other updates, there are a lot of rumors currently abuzz about potential new character announcements that are growing stronger with each passing day. At the center of these rumors is a post on Reddit regarding the decrypted files from the game’s most recent update. Included in these files was information for two unseen characters, specifically Roy from the Fire Emblem series and Ryu from the Street Fighter series.
Currently, Nintendo is unable to confirm or provide any further details beyond what is already public information. As of this time, there is no information in regards to what caused this last minute shift in scheduling.
Whatever announcements that made be made on June 14th, don’t forget to vote in the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot for a chance to have your favorite character become part of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
