The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has already reached 1 million pre-orders globally, giving it the potential to be the most popular title in the series to date. Releasing worldwide on May 19th, Wild Hunt once again sees the series protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, embroiled in a tale of violence, mythology, and fantasy. The third entry in the series from CD Project Red creates a truly open-world harnessing the powers of Xbox One, PS4, and PC to create the most immersive experience yet.
Those who purchase the game will be entitled to free weekly DLC starting May 20th. There will be 16 installments ranging from alternative armour sets to new side quests. This is a great way for CD Project Red to show their commitment to the community, especially when taking into account the stigma surrounding Day One DLCs, a practice adopted by many other large publishers.
Wild Hunt has also managed to reach 1080p & 900p on Xbox One by taking advantage of dynamic scaling and shifting between the two depending on graphical intensity. This will likely be a breath of fresh air for many Xbox One users, considering that they often have to settle for games running at 900p & 720p. Wild Hunt will also run in 1080p on PS4, and at 60 fps on PC. It appears that the developers are still working on the game right up until release, suggesting that CD Project Red are trying to squeeze every bit of performance into as many aspects of the title as possible. This game is already garnering universally positive reviews due to its astonishing depth and rigorous detail, with few negative impressions written. With everything we know so far, it is clear that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a top runner for Game of the Year and might set a new precedent for open-world role-playing games.
