Hyrule Warriors, the popular button smashing Beat-em-up on the Wii U, will be making its way to the Nintendo 3DS.
A video posted on YouTube via Koei Tecmo’s channel revealed scenes from the Hyrule Warriors game that will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. It will be available for all Nintendo 3DS and 2DS systems and will make extensive use of the touchscreen.
Included in the gameplay shown was two new characters: Tetra and Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, better known as the King of Red Lions. Both hail from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Besides their inclusion in the 3DS version, Tetra and the King of Red Lions will also be playable in the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors if players have both versions of the game.
The story first broke through a tweet by @Doctor_Cupcakes on Twitter leaking the link to the new trailer on YouTube. Koei Tecmo pulled the video from public view on their channel for the time being. Although other channels have been able to prop up the video on YouTube, it appears that many of them are being taken down as fast as they’ve gone up.
Presently, there is no announcement for any releases of the Nintendo 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors outside of Japan. However, there is a large amount of evidence supporting the possibility of a global release, including the mention of “E3” in the video’s title. It didn’t hurt that Hyrule Warriors sold rather well globally with over 1 million units shipped either. The higher install base of the Nintendo 3DS could provide a welcome home for the popular Hyrule-based musou.
