Stronghold Crusader 2: After 12 Long Years, An Old ‘Friend’ Returns

Firefly Studios announced that Stronghold Crusader 2 is available for pre-order starting today! Head over to Steam, Amazon, the Humble store, GetGames and many other digital retailers to pre-order the game at a 10% discount. But wait, there’s more! Pre-ordering either the Standard or Special Edition will get you more bonuses than just the discount; you’ll also receive 2 exclusive mini-campaigns: ‘Justice’ and ‘Freedom Fighters,’ 10 in-game shields, AND a bonus Strongholds Kingdoms Power Pack!

To celebrate this announcement, a new gameplay trailer was released that offers a little tease at the end.

Did you stick through to the end to catch it? It looks like someone is a little bitter and wants some payback. That’s right, The Wolf is returning for Stronghold Crusader 2 and he’s hungry for revenge. While he’s not your only opponent, or even the main focus, he will definitely have a big hand in your story.

Stronghold Crusader 2 will return with a new 3D engine powered by Havok Physics and will deliver all the castle destruction goodness you expect. Be prepared for the familiar addictive and fast-paced gameplay you expect from a Stronghold game. Lead your forces into the deserts of the Middle East circa 1189, choosing to be either Richard the Lionheart or the Sultan of Syria in historic campaigns, ultimately deciding the fate of those holy lands. Rise to the top and become the greatest Lord by managing your economy, seizing vital oases and leading your troops into deadly battles of control.

Fans of the series can rest assured that there will be plenty of new features and characters to keep them engaged and challenged, but for those who want a more classic feel, there will also be options and characters (like The Wolf) to allow you to play how you want to play. If you want to reenact Crusader 1 style skirmishes in the sequel, you’ll have many characters and options at your disposal to do just that. Firefly knows that PC gamers love to tweak their games to suit their individual styles, and you’ll have that ability to do so. Some of the game’s features include the ability to build the ultimate trap-filled castle, a skirmish mode, a wide range of AI Lords to battle against, Co-op Play, a multiplayer mode for up to 8 people, and the Crusader Trail, where you can challenge yourself against the increasingly tough skirmish campaigns. And of course, I can’t forget to mention the Castle Sandbox, where you can hop into the Map Editor or Free Build mode to build the castle of your desires, worry free of being attacked.

My name is Felicia but many just call me Lixx or Scilixx. I’ve been a gamer since I could sit up and play Asteroids on Atari. I became hooked immediately and have had a longterm love affair with video games. Of course, Atari wasn’t enough for me. I branched out into every generation after that. I still own them all, over 20 different working consoles. To quote Gollum, they are “my precious.” But I will admit, lately I have become a very healthy member of the PC Master Race. Do not despair, I’m not really much of a fan-girl to anything in particular. I like anything that gives me enjoyment. Whether its on a PC, console, handheld or even phone, I don’t care. I will play it. Currently some of my favorite games include Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate & Fire Emblem (3DS), Soul Sacrifice & Toukiden (PS Vita), Diablo 3 & Borderlands 2 (PC). And yes, I generally will play multiple games throughout the day. If I go without gaming for a day, stay out of my way, I will not be in a very jolly mood. Outside of gaming, I enjoy a good fantasy novel, violent tv shows (Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire), and folding origami. :3

Have your say!
