Hot off the presses from the crew over at Atlus, we’re serving up a triad of new gameplay videos for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. So join us as we take a look at Yasogami High School’s finest in the form of Yu Narukami, Yosuke, and Yukiko Amagi as they show what they’re made of in an intense, sweat-soaked, one-on-one struggle for survival that will go down in history as one for the ages!
First up we have Yu Narukami, the lightning-wielding leader of Persona 4’s investigation team and all around nice guy, who struts across the combat stage with his trusty katana in one hand and his Persona, Izanami, the Japanese god of creation, at his back. Those of you who have played the original Persona 4 Arena will recall that Yu was primarily defined by his ability to attack effectively both at close-range and at a distance, making him an effective character in the hands of both experts and beginners alike. If he can keep his title as a top-tier character in Ultimax is yet to be seen. If the video below is indication, then he can still hang with the best of them.
Next up, we have Yukiko Amagi, the fiery high priestess of Yasogami High who fights her foes with both throwing fans and the red-hot flames of her Persona, Konohana Sakuya, a princess of Japanese mythology often assorted with Cherry Blossoms. Amagi Inn, Inaba’s most famous resort and hotel, Yukiko is best known in Arena for her ability to play a keep away by hurling a seemingly never ending wall of projectiles at her opponent, slowly draining their health in the process. Those counted among Yukiko’s legion of fans will not be disappointed, as this video from our friends at Atlus shows off that this burning rose certainly has some thorns.
Last, and most certainly not least, we have Yosuke, a speedy fellow who does battle with twin knives and his frog-like Persona Juriya, a mythical ninja known to be able to control toads and frogs. Best known for being a total bro, and getting himself stuck in a trash can on the way to school in a hilarious biking accident, Yosuke plays the role of Yu Narukami’s best friend and closest confident, going so far as to call Yu by the affectionate nickname “partner”. in the world of Arena however, Yosuke fights much like his Persona’s name sake, striking at foes with lightning-fast strikes, poisons, and even the power of the wind itself. Can Yosuke overcome his own goofiness and prove himself on the field of battle? Maybe, but we’ll have to wait till Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is released on September 30th for the PS3 and Xbox 360 to be sure.
There you have it folks, the Yasogami High crew is back and kicking it like never before! For more, be sure to stick those eyeballs to @APGNation on Twitter as we bring you all the latest on the P-1 Grand Prix and more!
