Shine Like A Legend as Destiny Finally Comes Home!

After months of build up, more hype then any one person could possibly contain, and the most successful preorder numbers of an original IP ever! Destiny finally arrive at midnight tonight and people are calling it the biggest launch in sometime, and with good reason. The beta of the game has attracted over 4.6 million players, with millions more expected to join the party when the game is officially released tomorrow.

Bungie has high hopes for their latest creation and feel that this is the right time for the game. “Destiny has been a labor of love and a remarkable creative journey for everyone at Activision and Bungie”, said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing Inc. “We feel that we have the opportunity to launch something huge – not just into the gaming landscape, but the pop cultural landscape. Arriving at our launch day with this much support and enthusiasm from fans and retailers is downright exciting. Moments like this just don’t come around very often”.

Harold Ryan, Bungie president would add that “Destiny is the game we’ve always wanted to make,” he said . “We’ve dreamt of this universe for years, so we couldn’t be more thrilled to swing open the doors and let fans shape this experience as they tell their unique stories in the game. For us, the next generation of games is all about allowing players to collide and interact with each other as they take on epic, action-packed adventures all their own”.

In addition, gamers will also be able to purchase an expansion pass for $34.99 that will grant them access to additional content found in Desitiny’s first two add-ons. The first of these expansions will launch in December, with a second to come at a later date. Those who forgo the expansion pass will be able to buy the additional content for $19.99 when it arrives  later this year.

Destiny looks like a big deal folks, so why don’t you tell us what you think in the comments, or on Twitter @APGNation.

My name is Nicole Seraphita and I’m 27. I’ve been gaming since the days of the NES and have owned at least one system from each generation since then. My favorite type of games if most definitely RPGs, with my favorites being titles like Chrono Cross, Persona 4, and Tales of Xillia, though I also sometimes dabble in platforming games, fighting games, and visual novels. When I’m not writing for APGNation or playing games, I enjoy table top and card games, watch anime, and write fiction that I occasionally publish online. I tend to write a lot of Sci-fi and the occasional bit of fantasy, with the often overlooked sub-genre of Biopunk being my favorite. I’ve also written a few visual novels, though only one of them has made it all the way to completion thus far. My current dream is to be able to bring the Monster Girl genre to a western audience.

Have your say!
